Bus driver charged with care­less driv­ing

IPOH: An ex­press bus driver who rammed into 10 ve­hi­cles near the Menora Tun­nel on the North South Ex­press­way was charged with care­less and in­con­sid­er­ate driv­ing at the magistrate’s court yes­ter­day.

Kader­shah Sabarud­din, 51, from Pangsa­puri Bukit Sau­jana, Jo­hor Baru claimed trial to the charge un­der Sec­tion 43(1) of the Road Trans­port Act 1987 (amended) 1999 which car­ries a max­i­mum fine of RM10,000 and im­pris­on­ment of not more than 12 months.

He is al­leged to have com­mit­ted the of­fence at about 2.45pm on July 10 this year.

Prose­cu­tion of­fi­cer Insp Kelvin Meng asked the court to set bail at RM5,000.

Kader­shah, who was un­rep­re­sented, ap­pealed for a lower bail amount, say­ing he is cur­rently un­em­ployed.

Magistrate Siti Hanum Mohmad Shah set bail at RM4,000 with one surety and fixed men­tion for Jan 4 next year.

Video footage of the ac­ci­dent posted on so­cial me­dia showed the speed­ing bus ram­ming into 10 cars.
