ALASTAIR COOK praised teenage sensation Haseeb Hameed and golden boy Ben Stokes after England’s showed they can topple the world’s No. 1 side India in their own backyard. Nobody gave Cook’s men a chance after their recent horror show against Bangladesh in Dhaka, when they were bowled out inside a session to slump to a humiliating three-day defeat to Test cricket’s ninth-ranked team. But they stood toe to toe with opponents to dominate a drawn first Test against a side who have not lost at home in almost four years. And they came close to landing a knockout blow as India limped to the close on 172-6 after surviving a torrid 52 overs at the hands of England’s bowlers. It means England are scenting victory in the remaining four Tests, starting again in Visakhapatnam on Thursday. And Cook believes brilliant new opener Hameed and all-rounder Ben Stokes
