Call to make ECRL study public

The Sun (Malaysia) - - NEWS WITHOUT BORDERS -

MINISTER in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan was urged to make public the feasibility study conducted on the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project.

Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua said the study, which was conducted by HSS Integrated Sdn Bhd and completed in December last year, had indicated that the total cost of the project was evaluated at only RM29 billion.

HSS Integrated was appointed by the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) in December 2009 to conduct the study. A check on the HSS Group’s corporate profile and capability statement showed that ECRL’s proposed route was approximately 545km, from Kuala Lumpur to Tumpat.

“HSS stated that the project value was RM29 billion, or approximately RM53.2 million per km. The study supports ECERDC chief executive officer Datuk Jebasingam Isaac John, who was reported to have said in April 2014 that the ECRL will cost approximately RM30 billion.”
