PETALING JAYA: A peak hour downpour yesterday evening saw motorists caught in a gridlock at Km21.4 of the Damansara– Puchong Expressway near the IOI Mall, Puchong Jaya.

The massive jam was triggered by flash floods which caught road users off guard and left some sections of the stretch temporarily blocked by flood waters.

A Puchong Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the flood waters rose up to 0.6m between 4pm and 5pm due to the downpour.

He said the flood lasted about an hour and receded at 5pm when the rain stopped.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported that the downpour also caused several main roads in Bangsar to be inundated.

In PUTRAJAYA, clogged drains and the overflowing Sungai Anak Gajah caused flash floods in residential and commercial areas in Precinct 11, said Putrajaya Corporation president Datuk Seri Hasim Ismail.
