No no­tice is­sued on road clo­sures

KUALA LUMPUR: Po­lice have not is­sued any no­tice about road clo­sures in the city due to the Ber­sih rally on Satur­day, said In­spec­tor-Gen­eral of Po­lice Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

A list of roads that are sup­pos­edly go­ing to be closed dur­ing the up­com­ing Ber­sih 5 rally has sur­faced on so­cial me­dia and mes­sag­ing ap­pli­ca­tion What­sApp.

It said that roads will be closed to mo­torists from 5am to 6pm on Satur­day.

The list in­cludes ma­jor roads in the city such as Jalan Kuch­ing, Jalan Ma­hameru, Jalan Tun Ismail, Jalan Sul­tan Ismail, Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Ipoh, Bu­la­tan Pa­hang, Jalan Raja Muda Ab­dul Aziz, Jalan Am­pang, Jalan P. Ram­lee, Jalan Bukit Bin­tang, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Pasar, Jalan Dewan Ba­hasa, Jalan Loke Yew, Jalan Hang Tuah, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Raja Chu­lan and Jalan Gereja.

The mes­sage said the gath­er­ing is to take place at Dataran Merdeka and pro­test­ers can as­sem­ble at Dataran May­bank and Masjid Ne­gara. It also ad­vised the public not to wear yel­low or red cloth­ing as it could cause con­fu­sion with au­thor­i­ties and pro­test­ers. – by Ash­win Kumar
