No notice issued on road closures
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have not issued any notice about road closures in the city due to the Bersih rally on Saturday, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
A list of roads that are supposedly going to be closed during the upcoming Bersih 5 rally has surfaced on social media and messaging application WhatsApp.
It said that roads will be closed to motorists from 5am to 6pm on Saturday.
The list includes major roads in the city such as Jalan Kuching, Jalan Mahameru, Jalan Tun Ismail, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Ipoh, Bulatan Pahang, Jalan Raja Muda Abdul Aziz, Jalan Ampang, Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Pasar, Jalan Dewan Bahasa, Jalan Loke Yew, Jalan Hang Tuah, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Raja Chulan and Jalan Gereja.
The message said the gathering is to take place at Dataran Merdeka and protesters can assemble at Dataran Maybank and Masjid Negara. It also advised the public not to wear yellow or red clothing as it could cause confusion with authorities and protesters. – by Ashwin Kumar
