Rooney defends his ‘celebrations’

The Sun (Malaysia) - - SPORTS -

WAYNE ROONEY has defended his postScotland match celebrations – as more photos of him looking sozzled emerge. The Manchester United and England captain joined a private wedding party at the Grove Hotel, Watford, on Saturday night. Guests claimed the 31-year-old was “really s***-faced” – as more pictures of him with winestained lips and half-closed eyes do the rounds. But Rooney’s spokesman has claimed the images are a sign of his “good nature”. Rooney (caricature) was pictured relaxing with a range of beauties at the plush hotel. In another snap, the dad-of-three looks like he can hardly keep his eyes open. His team said he was a good boy for not hitting the town – and slammed the wedding guests for selling their pictures to the tabloids. A spokesman said: “Wayne, along with the rest of the England squad, was on a night off duty. “Rather than going out, he chose to stay at the team hotel to relax and celebrate a fine England victory against Scotland. “During the course of the evening he was approached by numerous fellow guests for autographs and pictures. “As he has always been, Wayne was happy to sign, pose for photos and chat with guests. “It is sad that one or two of them have now sought to turn Wayne’s friendly good nature to their advantage.” – Daily Star
