Four youths nabbed for rob­bery, sex­ual as­sault

GE­ORGE TOWN: Four youths were de­tained af­ter they robbed and sex­u­ally as­saulted a woman at a con­do­minium in Bukit Jam­bul last Thurs­day.

North­east district po­lice chief ACP Mior Fari­dala­trash Wahid said in the 10.35pm in­ci­dent, three youths had en­tered the lift with the vic­tim, who is in her 30s, and was go­ing up to the 28th floor of the con­do­minium.

The sus­pects, he added, fol­lowed the vic­tim out of the lift. One of them sud­denly hugged and kissed the vic­tim while another grabbed her hand­bag.

He said the vic­tim begged them not to take her per­sonal be­long­ings but the sus­pects fled with her hand­phone, a shop­ping voucher and RM40.

“One of the sus­pects also un­did his pants and out­raged her mod­esty,” he said in a me­dia state­ment yes­ter­day.

Mior said the sus­pects were de­tained at about 6.30pm the fol­low­ing day at sev­eral lo­ca­tions in Sun­gai Ni­bong and Gel­u­gor.

Another sus­pect, who bought the stolen hand­phone, was also ar­rested.

The sus­pects, aged be­tween 16 and 20, have been re­manded un­til Nov 24 to as­sist in in­ves­ti­ga­tions for gang rob­bery and as­sault or use of crim­i­nal force on a per­son with in­tent to out­rage mod­esty un­der the Pe­nal Code. – by Im­ran Hilmy
