Follow-up audit on 1BestariNet project
KUALA LUMPUR: The Auditor General’s Department (AGD) will conduct follow up audits on the RM4 billion 1BestariNet project to evaluate its current performance.
Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin said this follows complaints by teachers and parents regarding the project.
“There have been complaints from teachers and parents, and we are going to follow up on their grouses,” Hasan told a press conference after meeting AuditorGeneral Tan Sri Ambrin Buang.
Ambrin was there to brief the PAC on the AG’s Report Series 2.
Hasan said both the PAC and the AGD will visit selected schools throughout the country to follow up on complaints relating to the programme.
He said the PAC will start calling up witnesses for hearings starting next year but stressed that it was to identify ways to improve rather than a fault-finding mission.
Ambrin concurred that 1BestariNet performed poorly and there was much to improve on.
“We have proposed many corrective measures and we will minitor the progress and performance of these measures during our visit,” he said.
Ambrin added that the time to complete the follow up audit will depend on how many schools they will be visiting.
