GOVT OF­FI­CER REMANDED OVER RM12M PROBE

LABUAN: A Labuan fed­eral govern­ment agency di­rec­tor and two con­trac­tors were remanded yes­ter­day for seven days to fa­cil­i­tate in­ves­ti­ga­tions into a RM12 mil­lion food court be­ing built in Tan­jung Pu­run here. The 59-year-old di­rec­tor and two con­trac­tors, in their 40s, were or­dered to be remanded af­ter they were brought to the mag­is­trate’s court. The Malaysian An­tiCor­rup­tion Com­mis­sion has frozen 12 bank ac­counts of the di­rec­tor which had a to­tal of RM899,000, be­lieved to be part of al­leged mil­lions ob­tained through cor­rup­tion. – Ber­nama
