US: EUROPE AT RISK OF TER­ROR AT­TACKS

WASH­ING­TON: The US State Depart­ment warned US cit­i­zens yes­ter­day of the height­ened risk of ter­ror­ist at­tacks across Europe dur­ing the up­com­ing holiday sea­son. In a travel alert, the State Depart­ment urged Amer­i­cans to “ex­er­cise cau­tion at holiday fes­ti­vals, events and out­door mar­kets”. It also said trav­ellers should “avoid large crowds, when pos­si­ble”. It pointed to “cred­i­ble in­for­ma­tion” that Is­lamic State, al-Qaeda and their af­fil­i­ates “con­tinue to plan ter­ror­ist at­tacks in Europe, with a fo­cus on the up­com­ing holiday sea­son and as­so­ci­ated events”. – dpa
