MP’s suspension withdrawn
KUALA LUMPUR: The government withdrew a motion to suspend Lim Lip Eng (DAP-Segambut) after he retracted his “harsh” remarks against Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said the government was willing to withdraw the motion if Lim apologised.
“I am willing to retract my harsh words,” Lim said in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday, as soon as Azalina tabled the motion.
Lim had on Oct 25 reportedly called Pandikar a “disgrace” to Parliament after a heated argument with the Speaker in the special chambers during a sitting.
Lim had said the Speaker was “appointed by Malaysian Official One” unlike the MPs who are elected by the people.
Pandikar, who was upset with the remarks, then ejected Lim from the special chambers.
