Christmas shining bright
> Universal Studios Singapore offers a fun seasonal experience, including the world’s largest experiential festive light display
IT’S GOING to be a dazzling December for visitors to Universal Studios Singapore at Resorts World Sentosa with the annual Santa’s All-Star Christmas celebration.
From Dec 1 to Jan 2, 2017, the streets of Universal Studios will be transformed into an enchanted wonderland filled with snow, fireworks, and festive light displays, as well as musical performances and appearances by the park’s very own all-star cast.
In fact, Universal Studios Singapore won the award for Most Creative Property-Wide Event at the 2016 International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Brass Ring Awards, for last year’s Santa’s All-Star Christmas.
Headlining this year’s edition is the Universal Journey, a not-tobe-missed experiential festive light display. It holds the Guinness World Record for the largest light bulb display in an indoor venue, with a total of 824,961 bulbs.
Here, visitors will be transported on a journey through the universe, all within eight thematic zones such as the Enchanted Pine Forest, Herald’s Square, the Land of Great Gifts, and the Rainbow Connection.
Apart from that, visitors can look forward to two new experiences – Santa’s Village, and Bah Humbug! A Christmas Spectacular music show.
Santa’s Village will bring visitors back to their childhood through various activities and interactive stations.
This quaint-looking village is home to talking reindeer, the Gingerbread Man, and the shoemaker’s giant shoe house.
Of course, Santa will also be there to meet and greet visitors.
Bah Humbug! A Christmas Spectacular is a brand-new production, which will be staged at the Pantages Hollywood Theatre. It showcases 17 all-star performers in one musical extravaganza, such as the Minions, the Little Match Girl, the Snow Queen, and Sesame Street friends.
Jason Horkin, senior vice president of attractions at Resorts World Sentosa, said: “This year, we have upped the ante, with new experiences ... we look forward to bringing the best Christmas cheer to our guests during this special time of the year.”
Visitors can head over to the Lagoon Stage in the Hollywood zone, where they will be entertained by DJ Eddy Elf’s Christmas Radio Station.
They can also take part in exciting games such as Carol-Oke and the Candy Cane Limbo Rock, and stand a chance of walking away with attractive prizes.
Iconic characters Marilyn Monroe and Betty Boop will also bring their signature Hollywood glamour to this year’s festive season with an all-singing, alldancing medley of Christmas hits at the New York Public Library.
KT’s Grill will also be in the festive mood, offering visitors a wide variety of popular Christmas delights.
There will also be firework displays on selected nights, as well as hourly snowfall and multimedia light shows.
Park hours will also be extended to 9pm.
Tickets are available at S$74 (RM229.40) per adult and S$56 (RM173.60) per child with a special S$36 (RM111.60) for senior citizens. A S$134 (RM415.40) family bundle is available after 5pm, which includes park admission for two adults and one child, as well as retail and dining vouchers.
