KABUL: Afghan Vice-Pres­i­dent Ab­dul Rashid Dos­tum beat up and kid­napped a ri­val dur­ing a sports tour­na­ment in Afghanistan, the New York Times re­ported yes­ter­day. The in­ci­dent hap­pened dur­ing a Buzkashi tour­na­ment in Jowz­jan prov­ince, home of first vi­cepres­i­dent Dos­tum, on Fri­day. Buzkashi is a tra­di­tional game where two or more groups of play­ers on horse­back fight over a goat car­cass. The vic­tim, Ahmed Ishchi, is a politi­cian from Dos­tum’s Junbesh party who had re­port­edly crit­i­cised Dos­tum. – dpa
