New land­mark in Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur will have another iconic land­mark when the new KL Pu­tra World Trade Cen­tre is com­pleted within the next four years.

The project will fea­ture new of­fice build­ings, the Pu­trade Hall and a sixs­tar ho­tel with a 70-storey tower.

In ad­di­tion, re­de­vel­op­ment will be done on the ex­ist­ing Tun Razak 1 and 2 halls and the up­grad­ing of Me­nara Dato Onn, Merdeka Hall, Tun Hus­sein Onn Hall and the Tun Dr Is­mail Hall at the Pu­tra World Trade Cen­tre (PWTC).

The 70-storey tower, which will be built on the Pu­tra Bus Ter­mi­nal site, will have a floor area of 1.2 mil­lion sq ft and will house the new Umno head­quar­ters.

The ground­break­ing cer­e­mony of the new build­ing was of­fi­ci­ated at by Prime Min­is­ter Datuk Seri Na­jib Ab­dul Razak, who is also Umno pres­i­dent, at a cer­e­mony to an­nounce the re­de­vel­op­ment of PWTC, held on the top floor of the Pu­tra Bus Ter­mi­nal yes­ter­day.

Na­jib said con­struc­tion on the tower would be­gin on May 11, 2017, in con­junc­tion with the birth date of Umno.

The project, which will be im­ple­mented by Malaysian Re­sources Cor­po­ra­tion Ber­had, will also in­clude a mosque with a ca­pac­ity for 5,000 and a two-storey shop­ping podium. – Ber­nama
