Four killed in MPV-lorry col­li­sion

KUALA LUMPUR: Four men were killed and a woman was se­ri­ously in­jured in an ac­ci­dent in­volv­ing an MPV and a 10-tonne lorry at Km16.8 of the New Klang Valley Ex­press­way (NKVE) near the exit to the Da­mansara toll plaza early yes­ter­day. One per­son es­caped un­hurt. Pe­tal­ing Jaya Po­lice chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the dead were Kun Ell Yin, 32; Kum Hok Wan, 36; Hong Ching Guan, 49; and the 52-year-old MPV driver who is yet to be iden­ti­fied. The in­jured woman is Ho Lai Lai, 41, and the iden­tity of the one who es­caped un­hurt is still not known, he said.

Se­lan­gor Fire and Res­cue Depart­ment as­sis­tant di­rec­tor (op­er­a­tions) Mohd Sani Harul said the ac­ci­dent oc­curred at 1.50am when the lorry hit the MPV af­ter veer­ing to the right to avoid a car with a punc­tured tyre, and crashed through the di­vider to the op­po­site side of the high­way.

The de­ceased’s bod­ies were sent to Univer­sity Malaya Med­i­cal Cen­tre while Ho was sent to Sun­gai Bu­loh Hos­pi­tal. – Ber­nama
