Abused girl un­der­go­ing psy­chi­atric treat­ment

ALOR STAR: The four-year-old girl who was phys­i­cally abused by her mother’s boyfriend is un­der­go­ing psy­chi­atric treat­ment to over­come the trauma, said Kedah health direc­tor Datuk Norhizan Is­mail.

He said yes­ter­day the girl had been placed un­der the care of a child psy­chi­a­trist and was re­spond­ing pos­i­tively to the re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion process.

She was ad­mit­ted to the Sul­tan Ab­dul Halim Hos­pi­tal in Sun­gai Pe­tani on Nov 24.

“She is able to open her eyes which were swollen when she was brought to the hos­pi­tal.”

He also said an ENT spe­cial­ist is plan­ning a hear­ing test be­fore she is dis­charged from the hos­pi­tal.

The girl is re­cov­er­ing from her trauma and gets along well with the nurses.

The girl was ad­mit­ted to the hos­pi­tal after po­lice on Nov 24 found her and the body of her two-year-old brother which was stuffed in an ice box at a unit of the Paya Nahu Flats in Sun­gai Pe­tani. – Ber­nama
