GOVT MOVES TO PROTECT FOREST RESOURCES

KUALA LUMPUR: The government is finalising the National Strategy on Reducing Emission from Forest Destruction and Degradation (REDD+) to ensure forest resources and ecosystem services are protected. REDD+ which stands for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation, Role of Conservation, Sustainable Management of Forests, and Enhancement of Forest Carbon Stocks in Developing Countries, is a United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change mechanism to encourage developing countries to better protect, manage and use forest resources. – Bernama
