MAY SORRY FOR FIRE RESPONSE
LONDON: British Prime Minister Theresa May on Wednesday apologised for the official response to a devastating London tower block fire believed to have killed 79 , saying it was “not good enough”. “That was a failure of the state, local and national, to help people when they needed it most. As prime minister I apologise for that failure,” she told parliament. May came under severe criticism for failing to meet survivors of the blaze in the local authority-owned Grenfell Tower in west London on her first visit to the scene. – AFP
