World champs deliver Cambodia’s gold
PETALING JAYA: Two world champions, Ke Leng and Ouk Sreymom, ensured Cambodia didn’t return empty-handed as they won their country’s gold medal in petanque last Thursday.
They defeated Thailand’s Phantipha Wongchuvej and Pataratida Meepak 13-10 at the women’s doubles final.
Earlier, the two Cambodians beat their Vietnamese, Maynmar and Indonesian counterparts 13-8, 13-1, 13-5 respectively.
Ouk Sreymom was crowned the world champion of petanque in 2017 at a competition held in Belgium while Ke Leng earned her first and second world champion titles in 2013 in France and in 2015 in Thailand.
Cambodia’s other golds were delivered by Sorn Seavmey in women’s taekwondo and Khun Dima in kickboxing.
