Gold in the most un­usual place

PETALING JAYA: The Philippines found gold in the most un­usual place at the 29th SEA Games by win­ning the first-ever ice hockey event. They scored a 5-4 win over Thailand in the fi­nals to be­come the in­au­gu­ral cham­pi­ons last Thurs­day.

The Philippines also tri­umphed in an­other sport that is con­sid­ered un­con­ven­tional in their coun­try.

The Filipinos also struck gold in the men’s fours event of the lawn bowls. The team of Em­manuel Porta­cio, Curte Robert Guarin, Leon­cio Carreon Jr, and Ron­ald Lis­ing up­set hosts Malaysia 16-14 in the cham­pi­onship round. Thailand took the bronze in the men’s fours.
