The Sun (Malaysia) - - NEWS WITHOUT BORDERS -

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are unsure of the motive behind the shooting of former attorney-general (AG) Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail’s driver on Tuesday.

Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Hamzah Alias told theSun that police have not arrested any suspects yet but gave an assurance that a thorough investigation is underway.

“We cannot speculate on the motive of the shooting because we have not caught the suspects involved. It is not right to say that it is linked to the former AG.”

He said that the police are currently questioning eyewitnesses.

In the incident, the 40-yearold victim was at the front door of his house when two men, in their 30s, without crash helmets rode up to him on a motorcycle. One of them fired a shot after the other called out his name.

They then sped off on their motorcycle.

Hamzah said the driver was shot in the leg and has been warded at the Ampang Hospital and is condition his reported to be stable.
