Cops detained over robbery

IPOH: Three police personnel, including a senior officer, were arrested on suspicion of being involved in a robbery at a house in Kampung Rapat on Wednesday. An unemployed man was also detained. They are being remanded until Jan 2 to facilitate investigat­ions.

Ipoh City deputy police chief Supt Abdul Rani Alias said six men in a multi-purpose vehicle arrived at a house at about 2am and identified themselves as policemen.

“The intruders robbed the occupants of RM12,300,” he said.

Abdul Rani said a 35-year-old policeman from Taman Klebang Mutiara, Chemor in Jalan Tun Sambanthan was arrested on the same day at about 12pm. A 27-year-old personnel from Taman Wing Onn, a 43year-old senior officer from Taman Ipoh and the 43-year-old unemployed man were also picked up in the city centre, Bukit Merah and Sungai Senam respective­ly between 1pm and 3pm.
