PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia does not have any prob­lems in re­la­tion to the sup­ply of rice in the coun­try, the Agri­cul­ture and Agrobased In­dus­try Min­istry said yes­ter­day. The sec­re­tary of the min­istry’s Padi and Rice In­dus­try Di­vi­sion, Sham­sud­din Is­mail, said the coun­try pro­duced 73% of the rice needed and the rest was met with im­ports un­der long-term con­tracts. “How­ever, to guar­an­tee food se­cu­rity, the govern­ment is con­duct­ing a holis­tic study on the man­age­ment of the na­tional padi and rice in­dus­try,” he said. – Ber­nama
