NEW DELHI: In­dian Na­tional Congress pres­i­dent Rahul Gandhi was charged in a defama­tion case on Tues­day over re­marks he made about the ide­o­log­i­cal men­tor of the rul­ing Bharatiya Janata Party. The 47year-old op­po­si­tion leader is be­ing sued over a 2014 com­ment blam­ing Rashtriya Swayam­se­wak Sangh, a right-wing Hindu group, for the as­sas­si­na­tion of in­de­pen­dence hero Ma­hatma Gandhi. Rahul ap­peared in a court in the city of Bhi­wandi where he pleaded not guilty. – dpa
