Big rush for discount on summonses
KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic police counters nationwide were bustling with l ong queues yesterday following a 50% discount offer on fines for traffic summonses.
Although no official announcement was made by federal police on the reduction, messages offering the discount made its rounds on social media a week ago.
The messages were from several district and state police headquarters here and in Perak, Malacca and Selangor stating that the public can pay their fines between Nov 3 and Nov 9.
However, the discount is only for compoundable summonses.
Yesterday, traffic defaulters in Kuala Lumpur grabbed the opportunity to settle their fines at t he city’s t raffic police headquarters in Jalan Tun H.S. Lee ( pix).
KL police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim confirmed that the discount is being offered nationwide.
