Big rush for dis­count on sum­monses

KUALA LUMPUR: Traf­fic po­lice coun­ters na­tion­wide were bustling with l ong queues yes­ter­day fol­low­ing a 50% dis­count of­fer on fines for traf­fic sum­monses.

Although no of­fi­cial an­nounce­ment was made by fed­eral po­lice on the re­duc­tion, mes­sages of­fer­ing the dis­count made its rounds on so­cial me­dia a week ago.

The mes­sages were from sev­eral dis­trict and state po­lice head­quar­ters here and in Perak, Malacca and Se­lan­gor stat­ing that the pub­lic can pay their fines be­tween Nov 3 and Nov 9.

How­ever, the dis­count is only for com­pound­able sum­monses.

Yes­ter­day, traf­fic de­fault­ers in Kuala Lumpur grabbed the op­por­tu­nity to set­tle their fines at t he city’s t raf­fic po­lice head­quar­ters in Jalan Tun H.S. Lee ( pix).

KL po­lice chief Comm Datuk Seri Ma­zlan Lazim con­firmed that the dis­count is be­ing of­fered na­tion­wide.
