Gold­man Sachs must pay us back, says Guan Eng

GE­ORGE TOWN: Gold­man Sachs should re­turn the US$588 mil­lion it was paid for its work with 1Malaysia De­vel­op­ment Ber­had (1MDB), Fi­nance Min­is­ter Lim Guan Eng said yes­ter­day.

“They must pay us back the money, not only the US$588 mil­lion but much more,” Lim said at a brief­ing on Bud­get 2019 here.

Gold­man Sachs was re­port­edly paid the US$588m for rais­ing bonds to­talling US$6.5 bil­lion for 1MDB in 2012 and 2013 (see also Sun­biz Page 9).

Mean­while in PETALING JAYA, DAP ad­viser Lim Kit Siang has voiced sup­port for over its crit­i­cism of a Face­book post by for­mer prime min­is­ter Datuk Seri Na­jib Ab­dul Razak deny­ing he had lied about the RM2.6 bil­lion found in his per­sonal bank ac­count.

“Let Na­jib re­ply to and ev­ery Op­po­si­tion MP can take a stand when Par­lia­ment re­con­venes next week,” Lim said on his blog yes­ter­day.
