Hello, KL John Lim Editor-in-Chief @johneuhock
Ah, the hectic city life: can’t live with it, can’t live without it. For all that we complain about KL life – the looming deadlines, rush-hour traffic and short lunch breaks – it’s also what drives us forward, making us feel alive and kicking when the weekend rolls around.
This issue is dedicated to those who thrive in such fast times, but refuse to suffer for it – at least where food is concerned. For those who can hardly find time for a meal, we suggest you toss out those sad desk lunches and head out to the city’s best grab and go spots for a tasty and healthy meal (if you exclude the hot dogs and deep-fried chicken, that is) even as you’re rushing from one meeting to another; we have a list on p14 for you to get started. Heck, sometimes it’s even better to chow down before reaching home, especially when our city is brimming with snacks like yao char
kuey, curry puffs and pisang goreng (p20).
And for those who live for the weekend, we’ve got plenty in store for you this issue. Kick off with our guide to organising a lastminute epic party, followed by our rundown on this year’s durian season, and round it off with our comprehensive lists of things to do, gigs to check out and new restaurants to visit.
Enjoy the issue ahead!
