WHAT IS IT… This isn’t your reg­u­lar banana leaf joint – in­stead of an airy ma­mak, An­neh is set in an air-con­di­tioned space dec­o­rated with wooden fur­ni­ture, con­crete walls and sus­pended lights – all of which lend to the restau­rant’s café-like vibe. The restau­rant has gained a bit of a fol­low­ing since it first opened this past Septem­ber, partly in due to its of­fer­ings of pork dishes. TRY THIS… A stan­dard banana leaf set comes with three sides of veg­eta­bles (which change fre­quently), salted fish acar, rasam, salted deep-fried chilli and pa­padum. Add to that a serv­ing of pork-based cur­ries such as varu­val, vin­daloo and devil pork ribs for a hefty meal. Other non-porcine op­tions are also avail­able – think chicken curry, squid sam­bal, fried chicken and more. If you’ve still got space af­ter your banana leaf, get the Maggi goreng; of course here at An­neh, you’ll also have the op­tion of top­ping it off with deep-fried pork lard for ex­tra crunch (and guilt).
