Time Out Kuala Lumpur - - Now Open -

WHAT IS IT… This isn’t your regular banana leaf joint – instead of an airy mamak, Anneh is set in an air-conditioned space decorated with wooden furniture, concrete walls and suspended lights – all of which lend to the restaurant’s café-like vibe. The restaurant has gained a bit of a following since it first opened this past September, partly in due to its offerings of pork dishes. TRY THIS… A standard banana leaf set comes with three sides of vegetables (which change frequently), salted fish acar, rasam, salted deep-fried chilli and papadum. Add to that a serving of pork-based curries such as varuval, vindaloo and devil pork ribs for a hefty meal. Other non-porcine options are also available – think chicken curry, squid sambal, fried chicken and more. If you’ve still got space after your banana leaf, get the Maggi goreng; of course here at Anneh, you’ll also have the option of topping it off with deep-fried pork lard for extra crunch (and guilt).
