Time Out Kuala Lumpur - - Makan Mana -

Goodness Greens Café Eating healthy is great for your body, but really, if you were to do it every day, you’re probably going to get sick of it. There aren’t too many places like Goodness Greens or La Juiceria Superfoods where you can have as many options; plus, there are some meals here that are quite full-on. WHAT TO ORDER Go for their teriyaki chicken soba – the portions are generous and you’re always full but without feeling too jelak. Jalan Datuk Sulaiman, TTDI (03 7732 0325/ goodnessgreenscafe). Daily, 8am-10pm. Wong Ah Wah I sincerely love Wong Ah Wah! I don’t come here often – it’s not the cheapest place to eat – but whenever I have someone visiting Malaysia for the first time, this is the place I’ll bring them; not for their sake, but for mine! WHAT TO ORDER Yes, the chicken wings are good, but the salted egg sotong is gold, so is the kangkung and coconuts! Yes, I love coconuts with every bit of my heart. 9 Jalan Alor, KL (03 2144 2463). Daily, 5.30pm-4am. Restoran Siu Siu There’s nothing fancy about this place in Taman Seputeh – just a great place where families can share a meal. I’ll always remember this place; it’s where I took my mum out the first time I could afford to belanja her after doing a couple of performances. WHAT TO ORDER Everything is good here – but this is my place for salted egg and chilli crab. And the char siew is to die for – but you have to call in early because it finishes so fast. 11 Lorong Syed Putra Kiri, Robson Heights, KL (016 370 8555). Tue-Sun, 11am-10pm. Ara Vietnamese Noodles I usually don’t share this spot with everyone – my fear is that this place will become overrated when it gets too popular. I was craving Vietnamese food after a gym session and was introduced to this place by a gym buddy. It’s become my go-to place for pho ever since. WHAT TO ORDER This shop has one of the best pho, and Vietnamese food in general. Even the chilli they serve on the side is yummy, and the soup tastes homely and freshly made – there’s nothing pre-cooked about this place.

Jalan SS22/11 Damansara Jaya, PJ (016 222 2480/avietnamesenoodles). Tue-Sun, 10am-3pm; 5.309pm.
