It takes more than just ordinary Peranakan cuisine to wow Bangsar’s Telawi crowd, but Shelley Yu’s has done just that by serving Peranakan classics like ikan goreng cili, ayam pongteh and telur dadar cincalok in a fun, modern setting. What’s not traditional, however, are its modern cocktails which have a distinctly Malaysian influence. Favourites include the Bob Boy (Scotch whisky, Mancino Rosso, tamarind) and Baba’s Kopi Kaw (coffee, brandy, Pernod, gula Melaka).
