Ta­man Gelora is a tiny park lo­cated by the beach where lo­cals go for ex­er­cise in the evenings. Find the beach park­ing lot where there’s a row of stalls. The big­gest stall sells re­ally fat and tasty curry puffs. Grab a few for an im­promptu pic­nic at the beach. If you have more space in your stom­ach, there’s also a nearby mar­ket on Sun­day evenings.

Sit­u­ated out­side Ber­jaya Hills, this cof­fee shop’s plus point is its com­bi­na­tion of good food at low prices. Try their old-school rich home­made ice-cream – peanut and durian flavours are house favourites. And ice-cream is not the only at­trac­tion. Fancy a bowl of ice ka­cang or cen­dol? Or nasi lemak? As you drive out of Ber­jaya Hills, look out for this cof­fee shop, famed for its wan ton mee. You can choose to have your noo­dles in a soup base or tossed in dark soy sauce. Re­mem­ber to ask for the thick milky cof­fee – worth a try. You can’t go wrong with good food cou­pled with fast and friendly ser­vice. Break­fast and brunch. Closed on Wed­nes­days. $
