Club Med Cherating

Time Out Malaysia Kids - - Travel -

It’s been around for a while but Club Med Cherating has still got it. If you’re the kind of family who loves non-stop fun and activities, then this is the all-inclusive holiday for you. While the location has its drawbacks (monsoon seasons and stretches of beach that are unsuitable for swimming), the resort itself is a practiced hand at providing stress-free, fun holidays. The list of things to do here for parents and kids alike is endless and includes sports, creative activities and games. Many say that the highlight of staying at Club Med is getting to know the GO’s or Gentil Organisateurs. Committed to getting you to have fun and get involved, the GO’s will welcome you to the resort, suggest and supervise activities, entertain you and even join you for dinner.

What makes this resort one of our favourites is the sheer level of planning that has gone into supporting every member of the family. There are dedicated areas for kids and teenagers (and correspondingly, areas where only adults are allowed to hang out) as well as special facilities for mums and babies: Among other things, you’ll find two baby feeding and changing rooms, as well as a baby gym, where little ones can learn and explore different kinds of movement.

Which brings us to the kids’

clubs – there are actually four, all tailored to the needs and interests of different age groups: Baby Club Med is for wee ones aged 4-23 months and activities here focus on early learning and motor skills; Petit Club Med is for toddlers aged 2-3 years old and here they can play games, go on walks and get involved in creative activities like painting, collage, fashion shows and listening to music; Mini Club Med for energetic 4-10 year olds will get them involved in archery, Little Circus, kayaking, cooking, nature activities, arts and crafts, dancing and more; and finally, Club Med Passworld for independent 11-17 year olds offers activities like flying trapeze, tennis, sailing, graffiti, hiking, movies, singing and more. With so many things to do and so many new friends to make, Club Med Cherating is clearly one for the extroverts. 29th Miles, Jalan Kuantan-Kema, Kuantan, Pahang (09 581 9133/ www.clubmed.com.my).
