Shangri-La Golden Sands

Time Out Malaysia Kids - - Travel -

Attractive hotel grounds and an impressive white sandy beach set the scene for seaside fun but they’re not the only attractions at Shangri-La Golden Sands. It is one of the few resorts that can boast its own theme park. The Adventure Zone Family Entertainment Centre, which includes slides, arcade games and jungle gym activities like ladder climbs and a fireman’s pole, is perfect for younger kids. Young teens too might enjoy some of the activities as well as the Nintendo Wii consoles.

Aside from the theme park, there’s plenty for kids to do. Recently revamped, the Cool Zone Kids Club is complimentary for all in-house guests and welcomes kids from the neighbouring Rasa Sayang Resort too. Conveniently open from 9.30am-9pm daily, the club caters for kids aged 5-12 years old and offers activities like T-shirt or batik painting, lantern making, mask making, movie screenings and sand sculpting.

Don’t forget to sign your kids up for the Kid’s Passport which entitles children aged 4-12 years old to special discounts on meals (try Sigi’s for kid-friendly food and fun) as well as three hours of playtime at Adventure Zone and even a complimentary ice cream, lunch and souvenir T-shirt. The passport costs RM60 for one day and RM100 for two days.

Finally, some of the resort’s beautiful breezy rooms come with an extra kid-friendly touch – the pull-down Murphy bed. This childsized bed can be stowed up during the day, creating more space in the room for the family.
