Bako National Park
Bako National Park (011 225 049). Sarawak’s oldest national park covers over 2,000 hectares and is enveloped in a lush expanse of vegetation. A variety of animals thrive in Bako’s rainforests, and if you’re lucky and go very early in the morning you might spot the rare, odd-looking proboscis monkey. Embark on one of the many walking or hiking trails where you’ll be able to experience nature in all its glory. Camping facilities and forest lodges are provided for those on a slightly longer adventure, though it is perfectly possible to see the park in a day.
