Take advantage of the sales and gift vouchers
There’s a reason why sales and vouchers exist. Don’t feel bad if you’re getting gifts for people from the sale section. After all, you still have to spend on decorations and dinner parties. The good news is that even if you’re running late in gift shopping, most sales will continue till the end of the Christmas week. Better late than never, right?
Get the kids to help out by teaching them to make handmade gifts. If you’re creatively inclined, this will be a fun activity to do together as a family. Handmade gifts mean a whole lot more than store-bought gifts, and they’ll be cheaper too. Why should you buy a greeting card when you can make it yourself? Pinterest will be of great help if you’re stuck for ideas. You can also try our DIY Christmas ornament project on page 100.
Less is more
Do you really need a seven-foot Christmas tree and a 15-pound turkey? We don’t think so. For starters, keep the décor as minimal as possible so that you won’t be tripping over tinsel. Also, the less you spend, the less you’ll stress over the holiday season. Get fewer items that are of better quality instead of a bunch of stuff that will fall apart when Boxing Day comes around.
