Besides running classes for students of various proficiency levels, KL’s official Japanese language centre organises film screenings, art festivals and more. Frequented by Japanese expatriates and fans of Japanese culture, the Japan Foundation feels like a home away from home to some. Lorna Whiston Centre

Lorna Whiston is a well reputed English language centre that specialises in speech and drama programmes for children. Classes are conducted in small groups of 12 and arranged around the child’s level of English. Hired instructors have great expertise in their fields and love kids. Some programmes include English as a foreign language, public speaking and the aforementioned speech and drama classes. Parents are kept up to date on their child’s progress at biannual parent teacher meetings. Mon-Fri, 8.30am-6.30pm; Sat-Sun, 8.30am-5.45pm (weekend hours only during terms).

Morris Allen sets itself apart from other language centres by adopting an interactive approach that strengthens students’ English skills and boosts their confidence and motivation to learn. Teachers give students lots of positive feedback and create an environment where it’s okay to make mistakes. The centre accepts students from nursery to SPM level and courses are offered on an ongoing basis. Your child may register even after the semester has begun. Regular classes aside, the centre offers short, intensive courses on specific themes to help students improve their everyday usage of English. Apple Language Centre

Apple Language Centre strives to equip children with high levels of English in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing. The centre specialises in Cambridge ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes for both children and adults.
British Council Penang
