There’s also the mu­sic play­ground for chil­dren up to 12 years old, the rock school (elec­tric gui­tar/bass/drums) for fu­ture rock stars, and voice classes for as­pir­ing Tay­lor Swifts or Sam Smiths. Aurora School of Dance

Var­i­ous lo­ca­tions in PJ (www. au­ro­ Dubbed Malaysia’s premier dance school, Aurora pro­vides a di­verse and nur­tur­ing at­mos­phere where stu­dents un­dergo clas­si­cal bal­let train­ing, which is deemed the foun­da­tion of most dance styles. The Danc­ing Tots class for three- to four-yearolds pro­gresses to the Kinder Bal­let course for kids aged four and above. Sea­soned dancers can then join the Pri­mary Level or Ad­vanced Bal­let classes. Aurora’s other per­form­ing arts classes en­com­pass vo­cal train­ing, pi­ano and mu­si­cal the­atre.

Bent­ley Mu­sic Acad­emy

Fourth floor, Wisma Bent­ley Mu­sic, 3 Jalan PJU 7/2 Mu­tiara Da­mansara, PJ (03 7727 3333/ En­rol your mini Mick Jag­ger in Bent­ley Mu­sic Acad­emy. The cen­tre is one of few in Malaysia with the author­ity to con­duct Rock School Mu­sic Ex­am­i­na­tions val­i­dated by Lon­don’s Trin­ity Guild­hall. Be­sides the rock school syl­labus, Bent­ley of­fers mu­sic lessons for clas­si­cal gui­tar, cello, sax­o­phone and more. Classes can even be tai­lored for tod­dlers and pri­mary school kids. Mon-Fri, 10am-9pm; Sat, 9am-8pm; Sun, 11am-7pm.

The cen­tre is es­pe­cially pop­u­lar among K-Pop fans and Zumba en­thu­si­asts.

Ju­nior Jazzer­cise (Kota Ke­mu­ning)

This cen­tre, which only opens once a week, of­fers a unique ap­proach to ex­er­cise rou­tines by jazz­ing them up with dance moves. Your kids will be work­ing up a sweat with­out re­al­is­ing it. Ju­nior Jazzer­cise also gives its stu­dents a chance to show­case what they have learnt by stag­ing per­for­mances. Sat, 10.30-11.30am.

Karen Barnes School of Dance

If your child is keen on pur­su­ing a ca­reer in dance, con­sider send­ing them to Karen Barnes School of Dance, which pro­vides in-depth train­ing in bal­let, mod­ern dance and tap dance. Its ex­cel­lent fa­cil­i­ties, which in­clude a dance and a drama stu­dio, are housed in a bun­ga­low.


Sen­tul Park, Jalan Stra­chan, off Jalan Sul­tan Azlan Shah (for­merly Jalan Ipoh), KL (03 4047 9000/ klpac runs a unique pro­gramme – the only one in the coun­try – for teenagers and young adults. The­atre For Young Peo­ple (T4YP) serves as a plat­form for young peo­ple be­tween the ages of 16 and 25 to ex­press them­selves by cre­at­ing mean­ing­ful the­atre. The cen­tre also has a chil­dren’s the­atre pro­gramme, which re­volves around games and ac­tiv­i­ties to help chil­dren de­velop in­ter­ac­tion and self-ex­pres­sion skills. If your child’s sched­ule is al­ready rel­a­tively full, opt for one of klpac’s school hol­i­day pro­grammes that run for one to two short weeks. (Box of­fice) Daily, 10.30am-6.30pm.

Musikhaus En­rich­ment Cen­tre

Musikhaus promotes ‘brain stim­u­la­tion through mu­sic’ via classes for mini mu­si­cal Einsteins. Musikhaus Ba­bies en­cour­ages par­ent-child bond­ing through mu­sic while Musikhaus Bub­bles teaches tots to be in­de­pen­dent through im­i­ta­tion. The mu­si­cal playschool is open to kids be­tween ages two and four, while in­stru­ment classes cater to kids ages four and up. Mon-Fri, 8am-3pm; Sat-Sun, 9.30am-3pm.
