Absolute Music Performing Arts Centre (AMPAC)

AMPAC offers individual or group classes on a wide range of instruments including the piano, violin and cello. There’s also the music playground for children up to 12 years old, the rock school (electric guitar/bass/drums) for future rock stars, and voice classes for aspiring Taylor Swifts or Sam Smiths. Mon-Fri, 2-10pm; Sat, 9am-5pm.
Aurora School of Dance
Various locations in PJ (www. auroradanceschool.com). Dubbed Malaysia’s premier dance school, Aurora provides a diverse and nurturing atmosphere where students undergo classical ballet training, which is deemed the foundation of most dance styles. The Dancing Tots class for three- to four-yearolds progresses to the Kinder Ballet course for kids aged four and above. Seasoned dancers can then join the Primary Level or Advanced Ballet classes. Aurora’s other performing arts classes encompass vocal training, piano and musical theatre.
Bentley Music Academy
Fourth floor, Wisma Bentley Music, 3 Jalan PJU 7/2 Mutiara Damansara, PJ (03 7727 3333/www.bma.com.my). Enrol your mini Mick Jagger in Bentley Music Academy. The centre is one of few in Malaysia with the authority to conduct Rock School Music Examinations validated by London’s Trinity Guildhall. Besides the rock school syllabus, Bentley offers music lessons for classical guitar, cello, saxophone and more. Classes can even be tailored for toddlers and primary school kids. Mon-Fri, 10am-9pm; Sat, 9am-8pm; Sun, 11am-7pm.

DancePot takes the liberty of arranging two classes to run simultaneously so that parents and kids may take their respective adult and kid classes at the same time. The centre is especially popular among K-Pop fans and Zumba enthusiasts.

Enfiniti offers singing, dancing, musical theatre and scriptwriting classes for kids and adults. The Act Up! Junior Jazzercise (Kota Kemuning)

This centre, which only opens once a week, offers a unique approach to exercise routines by jazzing them up with dance moves. Your kids will be working up a sweat without realising it. Junior Jazzercise also gives its students a chance to showcase what they have learnt by staging performances. Sat, 10.30-11.30am.
Karen Barnes School of Dance

If your child is keen on pursuing a career in dance, consider sending them to Karen Barnes School of Dance, which provides in-depth training in ballet, modern dance and tap dance. Its excellent facilities, which include a dance and a drama studio, are housed in a bungalow.
Sentul Park, Jalan Strachan, off Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah (formerly Jalan Ipoh), KL (03 4047 9000/www.klpac.org). klpac runs a unique programme – the only one in the country – for teenagers and young adults. Theatre For Young People (T4YP) serves as a platform for young people between the ages of 16 and 25 to express themselves by creating meaningful theatre. The centre also has a children’s theatre programme, which revolves around games and activities to help children develop interaction and self-expression skills. If your child’s schedule is already relatively full, opt for one of klpac’s school holiday programmes that run for one to two short weeks. (Box office) Daily, 10.30am-6.30pm.
Musikhaus Enrichment Centre

Musikhaus promotes ‘brain stimulation through music’ via classes for mini musical Einsteins. Musikhaus Babies encourages parent-child bonding through music while Musikhaus Bubbles teaches tots to be independent through imitation. The musical playschool is open to kids between ages two and four, while instrument classes cater to kids ages four and up. Mon-Fri, 8am-3pm; Sat-Sun, 9.30am-3pm.
