A3-G2-3A, Publika, Jalan Dutamas 1, KL (03 6211 9949/www. slappycakes.com). Slappy Cakes is the latest addition to Publika’s fleet of eateries. But unlike other joints, they offer you the pleasure of flipping your own pancakes right at your table. These golden brown pancakes are achieved in four steps: First, choose your batter (buttermilk, chocolate, peanut butter and whole wheat). Second, pour the batter on to the griddle that’s attached to the table and dress it up with a selection of condiments (chocolate chips, nuts, lemon curd, bacon strips and more). Third, flip the cooked pancake on to your plate and finally, top if off with their neat selection of drizzles like Canadian maple syrup, strawberry jam and the like. These pancakes are not just limited to the sweet kind; there are also savoury options to choose from, like their pancakes with bacon and mushroom. If you’re not in the mood for pancakes, treat yourself to their other options; we recommend the Slappy Benedict. Kids will enjoy creating, decorating and cooking their pancakes in fun shapes. But do keep an eye on them because the hot griddle is set to 180C. On our visit, we made peanut butter pancakes with chocolate chips, topped with bananas and blueberries and generously drizzled with maple syrup. Child-friendly. Daily, 10am-10pm.
