The yellow giraffe in Publika is an obvious indicator that you’re not far from Benbino. A play on the Italian word for ‘baby’ ( bambino), Benbino is a welcome addition to The BIG Group’s ventures, especially for parents with young kids. We were delighted to discover the stroller parking, which eliminates the hassle of manoeuvering into the restaurant, and the kids (parents too!) will be very happy to spend time in the sunny yellow play area.
In addition to all-day breakfast offerings like our favourite Goji Berry Bread, a naturally sweet and filling house-baked loaf, and the Super Chia Seed Pudding with coconut milk, granola and fruit, Benbino also serves pastas, sandwiches and filling mains.
There is ample choice for healthy eating, an obvious being one of Benbino’s intriguing salads – the Mr Fla-Mango Salad has plenty of appealing ingredients like goji berries, walnuts, diced mango and poached chicken dressed to impress with pesto mayo. Even the most sinful options on Benbino’s menu are mildly modified to cater to your wellbeing. Crowned with creamy peaks of mashed potatoes, the meatloaf cupcakes were chock full of julienned carrots. Our only grievance was the café’s playlist, which was nowhere as varied as its menu. Parents who plan on chilling out at Benbino may have to listen to the same song played on loop for hours. Level G3, Publika, Jalan Solaris Dutamas 1, KL (03 6207 8557/www. thebiggroup.co/benbino). Tue-Sun, 10am-9pm. Halal.
