Time Out Malaysia Kids - - Shopping -

1 Persiaran Kewajipan, USJ 1, Subang Jaya (03 8020 7828/ www.da-men.com). Described as an ‘Asian lifestyle mall’, da:mén (Mandarin for ‘big door’) is largely inspired by Japanese culture. Myriad stores pay homage to the Land of the Rising Sun, such as Milkissimo, a gelateria from Hokkaido; Canmake, which stocks makeup and cosmetics from Tokyo; and Aliba, a Japanese food court. There’s even a Wish Tree on the fourth floor where shoppers may pen down their aspirations on little slips of paper and tie them to the branches of the artificial sakura tree, imitating a popular pastime in Japan.

If the kids get hungry and cranky, lead them to The Canteen, a childfriendly food court offering pizza, chicken rice, oyster omelettes, satay skewers and more. After placing your order, you’ll be given an electronic device that starts beeping when your food is ready, allowing you to wander around for a bit. In addition to a kids play area, there are bookshelves carrying children’s picture books and board games to while away the time. Daily, 10am-10pm.
