A TYPICAL PRENATAL YOGA SESSION INCORPORATES THE FOLLOWING
Breathing – this is the foundation of what yoga is, with the emphasis on ‘conscious breathing’ slowly through your nose. This helps reduce shortness of breath and will come in handy to ease through contractions during labour. Stretching – a necessity for whatever exercise you do and especially in prenatal yoga where gentle stretching is a main component of the session. Postures – these aid in developing and maintaining strength, flexibility and balance. Cooling down – the last part of the session where heart rate is restored and you should feel calm and relaxed.
