A’Famosa Resort

Jalan Kemus, Simpang Empat, Alor Gajah (06 552 0888 / www.afamosa.com). Not a place to visit without the children, that’s for sure. Parents with a low ‘camp’ threshold may want to pop a relaxant before venturing here, or the sheer campiness of it all will have you running for the exit. Kids will love the Old West and its cheery but faux cowboys and Indians as well as the kid-oriented Water Theme Park. Lower your expectations and call ahead before you book to check that all attractions are open as there always seems to be some sort of renovations going on.

Holiday Inn Malacca

Jalan Syed Abdul Aziz (06 285 9000/ www.holidayinn.com/melaka). Located on the stylish waterfront of the Straits of Malacca, Holiday Inn is a mere tenminute walk from the city’s famous historical sites, making it a convenient place for parents with kids to reside. If the younger ones tire of sightseeing, let them take a dip in the childfriendly infinity pool or the steam room. In addition to a ‘kids stay and eat free’ policy, the hotel provides free shuttle services.
