Box of Bricks is the equivalent of a well stocked library, except that instead of magazines and leather-bound books, there are shelves full of neatly arranged LEGO kits. Any LEGO-crazed kid (or adult) could spend hours perusing the Star Wars, Scooby Doo, Frozen and Simpsons themed sets. A visit to Carousel is like Christmas come early. The vintage British-esque toy store with giant window displays and life-sized Nutcracker figurines guarding at the entrance is whimsical to say the least. The welcome sight of model airplanes, jack-inthe-boxes, rocking horses and toy soldiers from a bygone era gives this vibrant red-andwhite shop a touch of difference compared to other ubiquitous chains in town. The oldest toy store in the world, Hamleys has fired the imaginations of kids since 1760. Malaysia boasts of three Hamley stores in 1 Utama, Quill City Mall and Atria Shopping Gallery. In addition to featuring brands such as Barbie, Disney Princess, LEGO, Hot Wheels, Playskool, Fisher-Price, Star Wars, Transformers, Thomas & Friends and Hasbro Gaming, Hamleys also stocks its own range of toys, many of which have an educational twist. Find canal-building equipment from Aquaplay, wooden doll houses from KidKraft, handcrafted dolls from Madame Alexander and much more. Daily, 10am-10pm.
NEW The Loot Chest
Fourth floor, da:mén, 1 Persiaran Kewajipan, USJ 1, Subang Jaya (03 8021 5220/thelootchest.com). Specialising in video games, toys and collectibles, The Loot Chest is one of the first stores to open in the new Asian lifestyle mall da:mén. ‘Game of Thrones’ fans are sure to gush over the wide array of sullen looking vinyl characters from the TV show. It also seems that Pokémon is still in fashion, as there is a whole room dedicated to the fictional characters. If a PlayStation game catches your eye, you can test it out in the console room before paying up. Daily, 10am-10pm.

Think mermaid onesies for babies, world map wall decals and other curiosities.
