Time Out Malaysia Kids - - Contents - Caramella Scarpa Editor editor@timeoutmalaysia.com

IT’S THAT TIME OF year again – school holidays, the festive season and the end of another year. To say time flies is an understatement, especially when you have kids. I woke up one day and my 13-year-old is bigger and taller than me! But, I digress. The end of the year is a great time to take the family on holiday, and this time round how about going all cultural on them and visiting beautiful destinations like Luang Prabang or Siem Reap (p 68)? No kids clubs, theme parks and flashing lights – just ancient architecture and temples. They may moan about it now but they’ll thank you someday.

The end of the year also is also the season of the mighty sale, which is great for those doing their Christmas shopping and stocking up on school supplies for the start of the New Year. When you have young kids there are certain malls that must be avoided at all costs if you want to remain sane; but luckily for us there is a good selection of family-friendly malls (p 10) which have all the appropriate facilities and shops. Still on the subject of shopping, we tell you where to get the cutest, furriest, most colourful stationery (p 46) just in time for the start of the new term. Your kids will have a lot of free time on their hands this holiday season, which is a great opportunity for them to focus on sports with these clubs (p 37), particularly those who want to bring their game to another level and focus on competing. Ask about the club’s holiday programmes.

We wish you a fabulous end of year and here’s looking at an even better 2017 – onwards and upwards!
