Green Tomato Café

Time Out Malaysia Kids - - Eating Out -

It’s a shame that KL doesn’t have more alfresco eateries such as Green Tomato Café. Located in a lush green compound in the heart of KL, Green Tomato isn’t immediately visible to the naked eye, but isn’t difficult to locate. Surrounded by batik-making facilities and a gift store, the café chiefly caters to art students looking for a quick bite. On weekends, families trickle into Green Tomato for simple but reliably delicious brunches. Order the perfectly poached eggs Benedict, freshly baked muffins, espresso beverages and refreshing fruit juices. Strewn with toys and a small playset, the lawn is safe for little ones to play barefoot. You can even bring your pooch, provided it’s wellbehaved. Green Tomato’s baristas have been known to make their latte art classes accessible to children by swapping coffee for hot chocolate. The free parking and ample space for strollers are huge plusses here.

Yayasan Seni, 333 Persiaran Ritchie, off Jalan Ritchie, KL (03 4251 5154/www. greentomatocafe.com.my). Halal. Child-friendly. Free parking. Daily, 8am-5pm. $$
