Microsoft Lumia 550

Time Out Malaysia Kids - - Culture -

The Microsoft Lumia 550 isn’t the cheapest smartphone on the market, but it’s actually good value when you consider how much you get for the price. One of the coolest things about Windows phones is the My Family app which allows parents to control what apps users can download and which websites can be visited.

Aside from the bevy of parental controls, Windows phones are equipped with OneDrive and Cortana. With OneDrive, your kids can access Microsoft Office applications like Word or PowerPoint, do their homework or revise their notes wherever they go. While Cortana, (pretty much the same as Apple’s Siri), is a helpful personal assistant who’ll be able to answer questions your kids might have and remind them about their daily schedules. This model uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that will make multi-tasking much smoother and combined with the 1GB of RAM and Windows 10, this phone is a good performer and has relatively up-to-date technology

The phone is fairly compact, which suits smaller hands, but the 4.7” display still gives a decent amount of space to play on. There’s an added bonus if your kids have an Xbox, as the Lumia 550 integrates neatly with Xbox Live allowing the kids to play games on both devices. All things considered, the Lumia 550 has everything a kid could ask of their first smartphone and we bet the price won’t hurt your wallet.
