New places to shop
Malaysia has fast become a haven for local and foreign tourists with a penchant for the 21st century’s favourite past-time – shopping. Vivian Adelene explores the latest list of upcoming, brand new and upgraded malls
QUILL CITY MALL, KUALA LUMPUR
Opening date: January 2015
Abandoned for more than a decade due to the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997/98, Quill City
Mall, then known as Vision City Mall, will be making its way back into the lives of KLites! Opened to the public in January 2015, Quill City Mall is located on high energy Jalan Sultan Ismail and is only an approximately 15-minute drive from KLCC and the Bukit Bintang area. You can also easily access the mall from the Medan Tuanku Monorail station, and it’s just a stone’s throw from the Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur and Asian Heritage Row.
The mall is attractively designed with shops clustering around multiple atrias, enhanced with the superb use of natural lighting. Here, shopping is convenient with favourites like AEON, Daiso, H&M, Guess, Hush Puppies and Skechers. Parents will be grateful for the spacious kids play centre that will keep their children occupied and makes this place perfect for playdates!
Dining at the mall is irresistible: Bathed in natural light, the alfresco dining area offers spectacular views of the city, including the Petronas Twin Towers. Find a long list of options, including Balifeel, Subway, LongHorn Steakhouse, The Manhattan Fish Market, Red Lobster and Sushi King among many more. Grab a gelato at Mammamia or a cuppa at Teh Tarik Place if you’re just after a snack.
There will also be an array of events and fairs to attend during the weekends at the fully equipped concourse area, where friends and family can get together and enjoy each others’ company within the comforts of the mall. Exit Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur (03 2603 1018/www. quillcitymall.com.my).
