Come Novem­ber, Pe­nang gets ready for the lengthy lo­cal school hol­i­days with even more arty, cul­tural and sporty events. Ge­orge Town Lit Fest kicks things off with in­ter­na­tional and lo­cal lit­er­ary acts. The fes­ti­val gives crit­ics, po­ets, thinkers and writ­ers a plat­form to di­rectly con­verse with their peers and fans as well as en­cour­age a larger lit­er­ary scene in the coun­try.

26 Novem­ber - 01 Jan­uary 2017 Pesta Pu­lau Pi­nang Out­side of Ge­orge Town, the start of the school hol­i­days is marked with the Pe­nang’s old­est and big­gest fair called the Pesta Pu­lau Pi­nang held at the Pesta Site in Sun­gai Nibong, right next to the main bus de­pot on the is­land. Run­ning for slightly over a month, the car­ni­val has an en­er­getic vibe with bright lights and a host of ac­tiv­i­ties for the fam­ily. Think fun rides, food stalls, con­certs, fun houses and much more.

27 Pe­nang Bridge In­ter­na­tional Marathon

Run­ners come from all over the world to par­tic­i­pate in this in­ter­na­tional sports event com­pris­ing a full marathon, a half marathon, a 10k run as well as a fun run. Reg­is­ter early as spots tend to fill up fast. www.penang­marathon.gov.my
