Fol­low­ing a suc­cess­ful launch last year as part of the Ge­orge Town Fes­ti­val, the Butterworth Fringe Fes­ti­val is back this Au­gust with ex­cit­ing show­cases and per­for­mances.

This year too, BFF will host lo­cal and in­ter­na­tional acts, in­clud­ing art in­stal­la­tions and ex­hi­bi­tions, film screen­ings, live per­for­mances and more.

In­ter­na­tional acts will in­clude the 'street per­former's street per­former' - Aus­tralian An­thony Liv­ingspace, who has wowed au­di­ences for nearly 30 years with his thrilling street the­atre. Also in at­ten­dance will be Spa­niards Miguel and Nelly with their jaw-drop­ping fire show, as well as award­win­ning, chain­saw-jug­gling, uni­cy­cle-rid­ing Dy­naMike from Canada.

Bring­ing things closer home is the in­ter­ac­tive art project 'Kata-Kata 2100' that ques­tions the in­flu­ences of cul­ture, tech­nol­ogy and oth­ers on the de­vel­op­ment of the Malaysian lan­guage; other events not to be missed in­clude the screen­ing of lo­cally- made Tamil film 'Ja­gat', the art in­stal­la­tion 'Sam­pan', which pays trib­ute to Jalan Jeti Lama (in­ci­den­tally, also the venue of BFF), and a tra­di­tional game­lan per­for­mance.

Jointly or­gan­ised by the Se­berang Perai Mu­nic­i­pal Coun­cil, Ge­orge Town Fes­ti­val, Think City and the Pe­nang state govern­ment, this two-day fes­ti­val aims to shine the spot­light on the lesser-known part of Pe­nang. All events fea­tured dur­ing BFF will be free to en­ter or at­tend.
