Luc Berriet is not your average perfumer. This veteran expert perfumer who collaborated with Avon to create the beautiful Viva La Vita has spent more than 30 years in the industry and dedicated much of his career to making people understand the many nuances and personal significance of a scent.

In an exclusive interview with The Weekly, Luc explains that perfume goes far beyond the name of the scent and its bottle. He sees the power of fragrance as something that can capture a feeling, an emotion. “A scent or fragrance is closely related to memories, a link to our childhood. For instance, there are certain smells that remind me of my mother and they often take me back to when I was a little boy with her. Now that I have my own kids (three in all), I often encourage them to learn to smell and memorise them. With smells, a whole new world appears!”

Inspired by strong, confident women who take life in their stride, Avon introduces its latest Feminine fragrance, Viva La Vita EDP. The latest fragrance from Avon opens with a crisp pink apple accord, which adds a sparkling freshness and imbues a sense of fun freedom, while mandarin citrus captures a free-spirited feel. At the heart of the fragrance, mimosa essence infuses a gentle richness while pink magnolia adds a heady softness. Says Luc, “The balance between the freshness and sweet scent is important especially here in Malaysia. If it is too sweet, with the humid weather, it gets sticky. “

Kasia Ostrowska, Avon Malaysia’s Head of Marketing adds, “Viva La Vita EDP reflects the courage and freedom to do what makes you happy and live for every moment. A heartwarming floral fruity fragrance, it is the perfect embodiment of the modern woman.”

Avon welcomes a new member to their colourful celebrity family by introducing up and coming local actress Nelydia Senrose as the face of Viva La Vita. “I feel so honoured to be part of this campaign and I love this new perfume – it’s feminine yet...
